Welcome to the Dorset School of Biodanza
Are you ready to dance your way into a journey of personal growth, self-expression, and transformation?
At the Dorset School of Biodanza, we offer a profound training pathway to become an Accredited Biodanza facilitator — rooted in music, embodiment, and human connection.
Whether you’re drawn to deepen your personal experience of the technique or feel the call to guide others in this powerful method, our school offers a rich, supportive space to grow, express, and thrive.
What is Biodanza
Biodanza is a system of human integration, emotional development, and renewal through music, dance, and authentic connections.
Developed by Rolando Toro in the 1960s.
Biodanza encourages a joyful, expressive way of living that enhances well-being and deepens relationships with oneself and others.
This is not about performance. It’s about remembering your aliveness, moving from the heart, and reconnecting with your essential vitality.

Roland Toro
The Training Program
The Dorset School of Biodanza offers a comprehensive three-year training that blends deep experiential learning with theoretical foundations and hands-on practice. The core of the training consists of 28 weekend modules, typically held once a month.
These sessions are:
✔️ Largely experiential, with four ‘vivencial’ dance sessions per weekend
✔️ Complemented by theoretical teachings that explore the psychological, physiological, and philosophical roots of Biodanza
✔️ Supported by self-study, inviting participants to reflect and contribute their own insights into the learning process
Once the first 20 modules are complete, students begin the methodology section of the training, the ‘how to’ of teaching. This consists of 8 modules. The final hurdles once the syllabus is complete are:
✔️ Facilitate a minimum of eight supervised sessions as a “student under supervision”
✔️ Write a monograph on a personally resonant aspect of Biodanza
✔️ Present the monograph to a panel of didactic Biodanza teachers
✔️ Upon successful completion, graduates receive the title Professor de Biodanza or Biodanza Teacher!
Throughout the journey, you’ll develop the skills, sensitivity, and confidence to facilitate transformative group experiences, while undergoing your own powerful process of personal growth.

Who is this for…
✔️ Our training is open to anyone with a passion for dance, movement, human connection, and inner growth.
✔️ You don’t need to be a dancer. You simply need the desire to explore yourself deeply and, if you choose, to step into the role of a facilitator — bringing this life-changing work to others.

Niraj Skilbeck, facilitator
Niraj co-leads the Dorset School of Biodanza alongside Milarepa Burgin, graduate of the first cycle of the training from 2008-2011 and is highly skilled at introducing people to the profound depths biodanza has to offer, such as sensitivity, sensuality, touch, affection and authentic expression. Using the medium of Biodanza, a series of dance, movements and exercises that create space for a deep experience within oneself and with others, each workshop is led as a vivencia, a space in which words are dropped and the deep wisdom of the body is entered.
Niraj has been involved in Biodanza since 1997, leads the teacher training program, and is also trained in the Osho Humaniversity training. He also has specialisation certificates to teach Biodanza and the Four Elements, Biodanza in Nature, Biodanza and Shamanism, AquaBiodanza, Biodanza for Children, Biodanza and Massage, Contact Education, The Heart of Transformation, the Minotaur Project and the Argonaut Mission. He has been involved in teaching Biodanza in 20+ countries.

Milarepa Burgin, facilitator
My first experience of Biodanza was with Niraj during the Spring Festival at Osho Leela in 2006. That initial vivencia had a deeply profound effect on my life, something which continues to resonate even now, and I remember saying to Niraj “if you ever decide to train people in this, you can count me in”.
After almost 20 years of dancing, with nearly 15 of those years as a facilitator, it feels that life has come full-circle as we now welcome a new cohort to Osho Leela to begin a new cycle of this incredible training. Whether you see yourself as a future teacher or simply want to enhance and enrich your own life with greater levels of expression and connection, the Biodanza facilitator training is, in my opinion, unparalleled in it’s depth and breadth and provides each participant with a unique insight into their own life and into the experience of living.
We look forward to welcoming you to the dance floor and to a deeper understanding of just what it is to be alive.
Curriculum outline of the training

✔️ An ‘extra’ vivencia on Friday night. Most schools start Saturday morning, but we get a bonus class the evening before, often led by a trainee from precious cycles.

The three-year journey with the Dorset School of Biodanza has been truly transformative, offering a profound depth of connection and self-discovery that I’ve never experienced elsewhere. Held at the nurturing Osho Leela Retreat Centre, the training provided a unique opportunity to drop deeply into the process, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in the learning and healing journey alongside a beautiful cohort of like-minded dancers and explorers. The setting of Osho Leela itself lends itself to feel so nourishing to accompany the journey of Biodanza — with all meals beautifully prepared to feed both body and soul, ample space to walk and reflect, and the comfort of indoor rooms and outdoor spaces to dance freely. The abundance of hot drinks on tap, chocolate brownies! and a supportive environment created a sanctuary where I could simply dance my dance, absorb the teachings by some of the best Biodanza teachers in the world, and be deeply held in a process that is both progressive and profound. This training stays in your body and heart long after the course ends, inspiring life to ripple through your veins with vitality, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose. It’s a journey that deepens connection — with oneself, with others, and with life itself — and it is unlike any other Biodanza training out there. Whether you’re drawn to becoming a teacher or simply seeking self-healing, I wholeheartedly recommend this experience. It is truly life-affirming, nurturing, and a gift that will stay in your heart forever.
