Who is Osho?
Formerly known as the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Osho was an Indian spiritual mystic who lived from 1931 to 1990. During his lifetime he inspired the development of many “Osho communities” all around the world. His main community still remains in Pune, India.
One of Osho’s main achievements, in spiritual cultural terms, was to bring together therapy and meditation into a synthesized whole. He developed a series of “active meditations” with therapeutic content, with the intention of helping Westerners to experience meditation. He believed that the average Western mind was too busy to experience meditation without undertaking some level of therapeutic catharsis first.
Osho Leela was created in 1996 by a group of Osho devotees in the UK. The community recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. We are proud to continue developing the work that Osho commenced and bringing it into the modern world.
